This thought has been running through my head so I thought I would throw it out here. Not sure how many cross stitchers are here but . . here's my thought:
Supposedly, Sweater Weather has 4,605 stitches. I'll know for sure when I finish it. It has been pretty easy for me to get stitched in two weeks, give or take a day or two. It wasn't hard by any means but there were a lot of stops and starts and color changes. Four stitches of this color, then 2" away, 2 stitches of that color. Something like Red Deer Sampler that a reader mentioned she's working on - that's definitely not a quick stitch (for me anyway), but it's beautiful and I do have it and would love to stitch it some day.
I was just thinking about something that's pretty but doesn't take forever - and for all of us, that probably means something different.
Would there be any interest in a monthly themed stitch along of something that is a long the lines of being finished in two weeks?
In my opinion, having something I can start and finish in a couple of weeks kind boosts my . . not energy, not self-confidence . . I don't know the word, but with so many WIPS, it's fun to have a finish every now and then.
I think the fun in this would be challenging ourselves to get something done in two weeks but honestly, if it's done by the end of the month, that would be great too. The Pinker & Punkin' blog has tons of small freebies and I think they're all so cute. She has a whole series on little salt box houses that should be super easy to stitch and I've been wanting to stitch some of them.
My feelings won't be hurt if no one wants to participate but if someone does, it could be fun to stitch with friends. Somehow stitching with friends makes me feel accountable.
I don't cross-stitch much but I do sometimes participate in the stitch along with Jo's Country Junction. I prefer to quilt but it's nice to have some hand work too. I love to see what you are working on. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
ReplyDeleteI would be interested in following along. I have been doing some blackwork lately and just finished a bigger project. The designer (The Steady Thread) recently put out some very small freebies so I got one prepared but I've only put a few stitches in. This might be my motivation to get it going again!
ReplyDeleteThis might be fun! I like to cross stitch and quilt, so shift back and forth with needlework. I love Melissa's little free charts on Pinker n Punkin' so there are lots of choices for smalls. I have a huge stack of completed cross stitch projects with the stitching complete but not full finished into frames or pillows. This might encourage me to finish one of them a week if I join in a group stitch along. Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteFor me, I’m thinking about WIPs that could be finished in two weeks. I can sure get behind that because I’m got some bigger stitching planned for next year.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun to me!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun, Lord knows I have plenty kitted smalls & others to choose from. Hopefully I would be able to keep on track do that. I’ve been wanting to stitch Pinker & Punkin Saltbox Houses.
ReplyDeleteGood. Hope you get some of your kitted projects stitched and some of the saltbox houses done too!
DeleteI'm in! I love those little houses, and it would be fun to stitch them with you.
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks for stitching some with us.
DeleteI’m willing! I love those little Salt Box House charts. I have done a couple already but none of the fall ones. I am tired of working on the Red Deer Sampler so this will be nice. I like to stitch seasonal things when I can.

That's one of the reasons I was thinking about smaller, easier to finish pieces - my attention span these days seems to be about long enough to do something small but those big ones, I lose interest way before they're done but I do get the urge to go back and work on them again. The Red Deer Sampler is so pretty - I hope you will get the urge soon to pick it back up.
